Hey, I’m Kewin—Swiss technologist, Zurich-based, with a positive spirit and a can-do attitude, passionate about designing, developing, and operating mission-critical IT systems.
Humble beginnings… and unexpected twists
Back in university, I was convinced my path lay in understanding how societies work. I pursued a bachelor’s degree in political science and a master’s degree in economics, immersing myself in theories that challenged and fascinated me. But the real education went far beyond the classroom. Those years carried me well past the borders of Switzerland—into Hong Kong’s bustling streets, remote villages in Bangladesh, the contrasts of India, the sweeping transformation of China, the vibrant energy of South America, and countless other corners of the world.
Each place taught me something textbooks couldn’t: that life unfolds differently everywhere, and understanding these differences is beautiful, our world is so diverse and rich!
The plot twist that changed everything
In 2016, life threw me a curveball. I had applied for a data analyst position, armed with Python skills I’d taught myself through late-night tutorials, freelance projects, and countless hours of trial and error. But the interviewer saw something different—they offered me my first software engineering role instead.
Sometimes the best opportunities come disguised as detours.
From code to infrastructure, one challenge at a time
What started as curiosity about data became a journey through the entire technology stack. I’ve been a C# developer at ELCA, dove into data warehouses & ETLS, built full-stack applications at Six Payment Services. For the past five years as a contractor, I’ve worn different hats: cloud native developer, CI/CD toolchain administrator, and DevOps engineer.
The pinnacle came when I joined the quant team
at Julius Baer as their DevOps and SRE specialist. Picture this: sitting on a trading floor, managing mission-critical workloads processing billions in transactions, working alongside brilliant quantitative analysts—the real “Wall Street wizards.” Every day brought new challenges, and the stakes couldn’t have been higher.
Currently, I’m bringing that experience to Raiffeisen as a DevOps engineer, continuing to solve complex infrastructure puzzles.
What I’ve learned along the way
The most rewarding part isn’t the technology—it’s the people. From my university travels to trading floors to development teams, I’ve met incredibly talented, passionate individuals who’ve shaped how I think and work. These connections remind me daily why I love what I do.
Life beyond the terminal
When I close my laptop, I shift into what matters most: family time with my incredible wife (seriously, I won the lottery here) and our two amazing boys. They keep me grounded and remind me what’s truly important.
I’m also slightly obsessed with staying active—8 to 10 hours per week of trail running, cycling, swimming, ski touring, and Ashtanga yoga. I’ve completed multiple middle-distance trails (44km, 36km, 30km), not because I’m particularly fast, but because there’s something magical about pushing your limits while surrounded by nature.
